In September the first worldwide conference on ayahuasca took place in Ibiza. For three days the island in the Mediterranean see was flooded by 700 scientists, shamans, healers, therapists, policy-makers and others involved in the ayahuasca scene.
As demand for the sacred vine is rising issues of legality, safety and sustainability become more pressing. One of the main aims of the conference, organized by ICEERS, was to discuss strategies for self-regulation – in order to prevent regulation from outside authorities.
In between the biomedical, psychological, psychopharmacological and anthropological talks, the conference also provided the perfect platform for encounters between all different cosmologies of those involved with ayahuasca.
Psypress.uk published an elaborate report of the conference.
